Nizuc Resort & Spa
A dreamy beach escape in Cancun
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience goes beyond how your surroundings look — how your visit makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We started in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star

Recommended

Soon To Be Rated
As our highly trained, incognito inspectors work to assess properties, our editors check them out ahead of time and provide a sneak preview of what to expect.
Nizuc Resort & Spa is a dreamy beach escape. The waterfront resort takes full advantage of its Caribbean Ocean views throughout its rooms and lush grounds, which pay contemporary homage to Cancun’s Mayan history.
The overall feel of the Cancun hotel is one of relaxed elegance, with high ceilings and straight lines set with the organic touches of rock, wood and tile. Dramatic up-lighting gives exterior stone walls a monumental look. Open architecture allows views and ocean breeze to flow throughout. Fire or water features create a dramatic and soothing balance in the open spaces with views of the ocean or surrounding mangroves. Floor-to-ceiling windows, terraces and balconies in each room ensure all guests enjoy the fresh air and vistas of the Caribbean jungle or ocean.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- Nizuc offers a secluded stay, as it’s surrounded by 29 acres of protected mangrove jungle.
- Just off shore of Nizuc’s powdery white beaches, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second-largest such reef in the world, only behind the Great Barrier Reef — teems with sea life for snorkelers to discover.
- Nizuc Spa by ESPA is reason enough to book a stay at Nizuc. Signature services include the Mayan Cacao, during which warm cacao oil is poured onto the forehead, and the Nizuc Renewal, a sea salt and agave body scrub, warm stone treatment and scalp massage.
- Three swimming pools throughout the property cater to families as well as couples looking for quiet time under the sun.
- If you want to hold a wedding or meeting, the 8,500-square-foot Conference and Events Center is available. The center includes a ballroom, two conference rooms, a large lobby and outdoor space.
Things to Know
- You’ll spend most of your time on the two beaches — one of which is only for those 16 and older.
- The adults-only, 950-square-foot Ocean Suites sit near the lobby with easy access to both Nizuc and Reef beaches and the main pool.
- The tropical resort arranges tours to the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá, Tulum and Coba, as well as offsite golf and fishing excursions.
- You can find the fitness center, café and salon tucked in the 30,000-square-foot spa.
- This family friendly hotel has activities kids of all ages can enjoy. The newly renovated Winik’s Kids Club for ages 4 to 12 organizes activities such as piñatas, arts and crafts and face painting, while Terra Nostra Lounge offers billiards, foosball and plenty of TV screens for teens to take advantage of during their stay.
The Rooms
- As the name implies, the 1,300-square-foot Ocean View Junior Suites have floor-to-ceiling windows that give glimpses of the Caribbean, and a terrace with an infinity plunge pool. For a different view, opt for the 1,300-square-foot Garden Junior Suite, whose large windows open to a private terrace with an infinity plunge pool and the mangrove jungle.

- The 1,770-square-foot Penthouse sits atop the fifth floor of the Residence Suites and overlooks the Caribbean Ocean. Its terrace comes with an infinity pool and an outdoor shower.
- All suites include a minibar, a Nespresso coffee maker, a 50-inch flat-screen TV in the bedroom and 20-inch flat-screen in the bathroom, L’Occitane bath products, a balcony or terrace and IP Avaya telephones that are compatible with personal devices.
The Restaurants
- The beachside Ramona adds contemporary treatments to traditional Mexican cuisine in an elegant coral-block dining room with large wood-shutter windows that open to the sea. Ramona is also home to the Dom Pérignon wine cellar, an exclusive space that offers a special curated menu by executive chef Desbois paired with a selection of choice wines for an unforgettable evening.
- Peruvian-inspired Ni whips up tapas such as lobster ceviche and seafood plates and salads for lunch. At lunch and dinner, La Punta Grill & Lounge turns out grilled seafood and meat dishes, such as fried octopus ceviche, beef fajitas and prime rib eye under a thatched roof or on a wooden deck with an infinity pool and panoramas of the ocean.
- Indochine brings creative Asian-fusion tastes to its Vietnamese summer rolls (coriander, mint, basil, cucumber, mango, carrot, pickled daikon, harusame noodless and jicama tucked inside a rice paper wrapper), wok specialties such as lobster yakisoba (egg noodles with lobster, vegetables, garlic, onions, carrots, soy sauce and sesame seed oil) as well as seafood offerings (steamed Chilean sea bass with Asian spices).
- Terra Nostra’s Italian and Mediterranean dinner menu presents extensive pastas, wood-oven pizzas and specialties such as Tuscan tagliata and veal Milanese. Foodies will love the Nizuc’s chef’s table, in which eight diners are given a kitchen tour led by the property’s executive chef, followed by a private eight-course tasting dinner.
- The Havana Lounge with its mahogany detailing and black-and-white checkered floor offers hand-rolled cigars and rums from throughout the Caribbean. Bar A-Kan is a quiet hideaway looking out to the sea perfect for cocktails before or after dinner.
